A first-time Prague route through Staré Město and Josefov, one timed morning at Prague Castle with Malá Strana, then Wenceslas Square, Náplavka and Vyšehrad without stacking castle tickets or criss-crossing the river all day.
Day 1
Start on Old Town Square with the Týn Church spires and watch for the Astronomical Clock on the hour if timing works. Keep this block on foot so the lanes behind the square stay easy to explore.
Drift north into Josefov along Pařížská and the quieter lanes toward the Old Jewish Cemetery area. If you want synagogues or the cemetery, pick one timed entry on the official Jewish Museum ticket—not a second major site this afternoon.
Save Charles Bridge for late afternoon or sunset when the statues and castle skyline read best. If crowds spike, swap to an early-morning crossing instead and treat this block as a flexible riverside walk on the Lesser Town side.
Day 2
Book Prague Castle circuit tickets on the official site when timed entry is offered—one castle morning only, not St. Vitus plus a separate paid tower stack in the same block. Enter from Hradčanské náměstí and pace St. Vitus, the courtyards and Golden Lane.
Walk downhill into Malá Strana: Nerudova, Malostranské náměstí and the baroque side streets below the castle. Stay on this side of the river so you are not tram-hopping after a dense castle visit.
Climb or funicular up Petřín for park paths and views over the red roofs—keep the evening flexible for weather and energy. Dinner in Malá Strana or back near the river works without adding another ticketed stop.
Day 3
Begin on Wenceslas Square and the grand boulevard up to the National Museum façade—strong architecture photos without committing to a second museum morning if you did the castle yesterday.
Follow the Vltava south to Náplavka for market stalls, beer gardens and local life along the water. This keeps Day 3 geographic along the east bank rather than doubling back to the castle district.
Finish at Vyšehrad for the basilica, ramparts and wide river bends at a slower evening pace. Keep plans open for sunset timing and an easy tram or metro back to your base.
