Amsterdam, Netherlands
A first-time Amsterdam route grouping the canal belt and Jordaan, a single Museumplein highlight with De Pijp, then Anne Frank House and Amsterdam-Noord without criss-crossing the ring.
Day 1
Start at Dam Square and the Royal Palace façades to get your bearings in the historic core. Keep this block light so you have energy for the canal streets that follow.
Wander the Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjes) between Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht. The grid is compact enough to explore on foot with café stops built in.
Finish in the Jordaan’s quieter canal corners. Leave the evening open for a brown café, dinner and a slow walk back rather than another ticketed stop.
Day 2
Book the Rijksmuseum on its official website for a timed morning slot. Do one major museum only today—skip stacking the Van Gogh Museum in the same morning.
Reset outdoors on the Museumplein lawns and a loop through Vondelpark. Stay nearby so you are not tram-hopping after a dense museum morning.
End in De Pijp around Albert Cuyp Market and the side streets for dinner. Keep plans flexible for weather and queues instead of adding a second reservation.
Day 3
Reserve Anne Frank House only via the official website—slots sell out weeks ahead. Arrive early and leave the rest of the morning free after this visit.
Stay in the same western canals: Westerkerk exterior and a short Prinsengracht walk. Avoid rushing across town before the free ferry north.
Take the free ferry to NDSM for industrial waterfront views and an easy evening pace. Keep dinner flexible near the water and ferry back when ready.
